LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The Tuskegee tennis team faced a formidable opponent in West Alabama on the road, competing in a challenging non-conference matchup at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.
The Golden Tigers men's team encountered stiff competition against West Alabama, currently ranked 19th nationally. In doubles play, the pairings of Zamani Moyo and Ty'lon Miller, Kevin Eutsey and Miles Wilson, and Tyler Ladge and Eliyahu Pinkney competed vigorously but were unable to clinch a win, resulting in West Alabama securing the doubles point.
In singles action, Moyo faced a challenging match at the No. 1 position, ultimately falling 6-0, 6-0. Wilson, playing at No. 2 singles, showed resilience, pushing his opponent in the second set before narrowly losing 6-1, 6-3. The remaining singles matches saw Eutsey, Jack Shaw, Ladge, and Miller putting forth commendable efforts, though they were unable to overcome their opponents.
The Tuskegee women's team faced the 12th-ranked West Alabama squad and demonstrated commendable tenacity. In doubles play, the duos of Tanyaradzwa Kaome and Leiloni Payton, Dayna Jackson and Taylor Ford, and Jamiya Ivory and Chloe Griffin-Harrington competed with determination but were unable to secure the doubles point.
In singles competition, Kaome delivered a standout performance at the No. 1 position. She showcased remarkable grit, ultimately falling 6-1, 6-4. Payton and Ivory also displayed resilience in their matches, pushing their opponents but ultimately coming up short. The team's sole point came from a hard-fought victory by Griffin-Harrington at the No. 6 singles position, who secured a three set win.
