Golden Tigers Win Eighth Straight Game and Move to Top Spot in the West with Win Over Miles

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Tuskegee University put on a clinic defensively in the second half Saturday afternoon, holding Miles to two fields goals and eight points over the third and fourth quarters to emerge with a key 53-46 victory in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game inside the Daniel "Chappie" James Center.
 
The Golden Bears led 22-12 after the first quarter and 38-27 at halftime before the Golden Tigers put the clamps on in the second half.
 
Miles was 1-of-9 in the third quarter and managed five points and was 1-of-10 in the fourth quarter and scored just eight points.
 
Overall, Tuskegeee limited Miles to 2-of-19 shooting in the second half and outscored the Golden Bears 26-8 over the final 20 minutes to sweep the season series.
 
The Golden Tigers improved to 13-8 overall and extended their winning streak to eight straight games. Tuskegee is now 10-4 in league play.
 
The Golden Bears fell to 13-6 and 10-4.
 
Brittney Bolin led Tuskegee with 12 points. She also had four rebounds, three steals and two assists.
 
La'Dajah Huguley finished with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
 
Jasmine Manuel scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Hilani Cantone finished with nine points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal.
 
The Golden Tigers shot 31.7 percent (19-of-60) from the field, including 17.6 percent (3-of-17) from 3-point range, and 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from the free throw line.
 
Tederia Ashley led Miles with 10 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Nobody else had more than eight points.
 
The Golden Bears shot 32.1 percent (17-of-53) from the field, including 33.3 percent (3-of-9) from beyond the arc, and 60 percent (9-of-15) from the charity stripe.
 
Tuskegee is back in action Monday at home against Lane.
