Preview: Tuskegee to Face Morehouse in Home SIAC Weekend Series

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Tuskegee baseball is set to return to SIAC play this weekend, hosting a three-game series against conference rival Morehouse College at Washington Field.

The series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday at 12:00 p.m., followed by the series finale on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The Golden Tigers enter the weekend with a 4-10 overall record and a 1-5 mark in SIAC play, while Morehouse comes in at 6-3 overall and 4-2 in conference action.

ABOUT TUSKEGEE (4-10, 1-5 SIAC)
Tuskegee has shown promise early in the season but is looking for consistency, particularly in SIAC competition. The Golden Tigers are coming off a tough stretch but will aim to take advantage of their home-field success, as they have posted a 2-1 record at Washington Field compared to a 2-9 mark on the road.

Offensively, Tuskegee enters the series hitting .229 as a team, scoring 71 total runs and tallying 94 hits through 14 games. The lineup has shown flashes of power, with eight home runs, but will look to improve on getting runners on base and generating consistent offensive production.

Tuskegee's offense has been led by several key contributors, including Ryan Morrow, who boasts a .298 batting average with 10 RBIs and nine stolen bases. He leads the team in hits with 14 and has been the most consistent bat in the lineup while also providing speed on the basepaths.

Jacobi Brooks has also been a major factor, hitting .308 with 10 RBIs and seven steals, proving to be a threat both at the plate and on the bases.

Devon Lee, one of Tuskegee's top power hitters, has recorded 11 RBIs and one home run, posting a .233 batting average with a .372 slugging percentage, and will look to be a key run-producer in this series.

Nicholas Pratt adds another power element to the Tuskegee lineup, leading the team with two home runs while hitting .242 with a .394 slugging percentage.

On the mound, Tuskegee's pitching staff enters the weekend with a 6.69 team ERA, allowing 88 runs on 101 hits over 106.1 innings pitched.

The rotation has had mixed results, with some strong outings from key arms, but will need to focus on limiting walks and avoiding big innings against a Morehouse team that has thrived offensively.

Isaiah Jones has been one of the most reliable arms on the staff, posting a .282 ERA over 22.1 innings pitched with 12 strikeouts, making him a strong candidate for extended innings this weekend.

Jahsha Stevens, who has a 4.50 ERA over eight innings, has shown flashes as a starter and will look to provide stability. Mikelle Mason, despite a 7.23 ERA over 18.2 innings, has been one of the team's top strikeout pitchers, leading the staff with 15.

Amare Morgan, who carries a 6.46 ERA over 15.1 innings, has the ability to keep Tuskegee in games if he can work efficiently. The Tuskegee bullpen will need to step up, as they have allowed 87 walks and 17 wild pitches, areas the Golden Tigers must clean up to remain competitive in this series.

ABOUT MOREHOUSE (6-3, 4-2 SIAC)
Morehouse enters the weekend as one of the top offensive teams in the SIAC, boasting a .356 team batting average while scoring 101 total runs in just nine games.

The Maroon Tigers have recorded 103 hits, including 15 doubles, two triples, and seven home runs and have demonstrated an ability to get on base consistently with an impressive .509 team on-base percentage.

Leading the Morehouse offense is Elijah Pinckney, who has been on fire at the plate, hitting .516 with 13 RBIs and a .806 slugging percentage. Pinckney has already collected 16 hits and eight stolen bases, making him one of the most dangerous hitters in the lineup.

Raymond Jenkins has also been a force offensively, posting a .467 batting average with 12 RBIs and a .767 slugging percentage, providing a combination of power and speed.

Robert Robinson, hitting .441 with 11 RBIs and a .618 slugging percentage, has been a key middle-of-the-order presence, helping drive in runs and maintain Morehouse's high offensive output.

The Maroon Tigers also use their speed effectively, stealing 28 bases in 35 attempts, led by Pinckney, Vernon Clay (6 SBs), and Ian Makle (5 SBs).

On the mound, Morehouse's pitching staff has been solid through nine games, posting a 3.88 team ERA while holding opponents to a .220 batting average.

Noah Grayson, the ace of the staff, has been dominant with a 1.13 ERA, a 3-0 record, making him a likely starter in this series.

Cameron Solomon has also been a key arm, holding a 2.45 ERA over 14.2 innings pitched with nine strikeouts, effectively limiting baserunners. Brian Urquhart has been an elite reliever, pitching 4.0 innings without allowing a run, making him one of Morehouse's most reliable bullpen options.

Tuskegee will need to contain Morehouse's high-powered offense while finding consistency at the plate. The Golden Tigers will rely on Morrow, Brooks, and Pratt to lead the offense, while Jones, Mason, and Morgan must step up on the mound.

Morehouse will try to continue their strong offensive performance and lean on their pitching depth to secure wins in a crucial SIAC series.

With both teams looking to climb the SIAC standings, expect a competitive three-game set at Washington Field, as the Golden Tigers look to defend their home turf and gain momentum in conference play.
