Golden Tigers Sweep Talladega in Home-Opening Doubleheader

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Golden Tiger softball team opened their home schedule in dominant fashion, securing a pair of wins over Talladega College in a non-conference doubleheader at TU Softball Field on Tuesday.
 
Tuskegee moved to 3-1 overall on the season after outscoring the Tornadoes 19-3 across both games, featuring explosive offense, stellar pitching, and strong defensive efforts.

Tuskegee 12, Talladega 2 (5 Innings)
The Golden Tigers came out firing in the first game, using a relentless offensive attack and an impressive outing from freshman pitcher Madelyn Rose to take control early and never look back.
 
Tuskegee opened the scoring in the first inning with two runs, sparked by an RBI single from Tamiya Martin and a sacrifice fly from Jessica Morales.
 
The second inning saw the Golden Tigers extend their lead to 6-0, capitalizing on two defensive miscues by Talladega while DaJhay Norton and Shawna McNair each drove in a run.
 
The Golden Tigers continued to pour it on in the third inning, plating five more runs to push the lead to 11-0. Norton delivered another RBI on a double, while Alarryn Beckley brought in two more runs on a sacrifice fly.
 
The offensive explosion was capped off by Jurney Madison's RBI single in the fourth inning, giving Tuskegee a commanding 12-0 advantage heading into the fifth frame.
 
Talladega managed to break through in the top of the fifth, scoring two unearned runs, but Rose closed the door with her 10th strikeout of the game, securing the run-rule victory in five innings.
 
Madelyn Rose delivered a dominant performance in the circle, earning the win to improve to 2-0 on the season. She pitched all five innings and allowed two hits, two unearened runs, two walks, and struck out ten.
 
Offensively, Norton went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored, a double, and RBI, Beckley drove in a game-high four runs, while both Shawna McNair and Shanna McNair both went 2-for-2 at the plate and scored two runs.
 
Meanwhile, Martin contributed by going 1-for-2 with two runs scored, two RBIs, and a stolen base, followed by Jurney Madison who earned an RBI single in her one plate appearance.

Tuskegee 7, Talladega 1
Tuskegee completed the sweep in Game 2 behind another dominant pitching performance, this time from Kamya Hampton, who tossed a complete game while striking out eight batters.
 
The Golden Tigers wasted no time jumping ahead, scoring four runs in the first inning to take early control.
 
Morales tripled to drive in the first run, followed by RBI singles from Caroline Clark and Kaley Roldan. Victoria Harrison later added another RBI double, giving Tuskegee the 4-0 cushion.
 
Talladega answered with their lone run of the game in the fourth inning, as a sacrifice bunt allowed them to score their first run and cut the deficit to 4-1.
 
However, Tuskegee responded in the fifth and sixth innings, adding insurance runs off an RBI double from Rose and a sacrifice fly from K. Hardrick to make the score 7-1.
 
Hampton remained in control throughout, stranding 10 Talladega baserunners while allowing just one earned run on eight hits.
 
Offensively, Morales went 1-for-3 with a triple, RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base, while Clark contributed by going 2-for-4 with a run and RBI.
 
Harrison also had a key contribution with a double and RBI, while Roldan finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Rose also went 2-for-3 with an RBI double.

Tuskegee improves to 3-1 overall with the sweep and will now shift its focus to the Capital City Classic this weekend in Jackson, Mississippi. The Golden Tigers are scheduled to play four games during the two-day classic, all against Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) schools in Grambling State, host Jackson State, Mississippi Valley State, and Arkansas Pine-Bluff.
