Women’s Basketball Extends Win Streak to Seven Games Behind 20 Points from Bolin

MOBILE, Ala. – Tuskegee women's basketball extended their winning streak to seven games with a hard-fought 59-55 road victory over Spring Hill in an intense SIAC battle inside the Arthur B. Outlaw Recreation Center. The win improves Tuskegee's record to 12-8 overall and 9-4 in conference play.

The Golden Tigers took control early, setting the tone in the first quarter with an efficient offensive effort, shooting 64.3 percent from the field.

Tuskegee outscored Spring Hill 23-11 in the opening period, fueled by Brittney Bolin's seven points and the team's three-point shooting accuracy. The Golden Tiger defensive intensity also forced multiple Spring Hill turnovers, allowing the visitors to build a double-digit lead.

Spring Hill battled back in the second quarter, narrowing the deficit to single digits at halftime. Tuskegee's shooting cooled, as they managed just nine points in the period, but their defense held steady to preserve a 32-23 lead going into the break.

The third quarter saw Spring Hill make a strong push, outscoring Tuskegee 18-13 to trim the lead further.

Spring Hill shot an impressive 72.7 percent from the field in the period, including key contributions from Kellyn Hunter and Tiana Smith, who helped the home team cut the deficit to four points heading into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was a tightly contested battle, with both teams trading baskets. Tuskegee's resilience shone through as Bolin continued to lead the offense, finishing with a game-high 20 points and seven rebounds.

Her ability to score under pressure, combined with the defensive presence of the Golden Tigers was crucial in maintaining the lead. Tuskegee shot 66.7 percent compared to just 45.4 percent from the Badgers in the final period to secure the victory.

Offensively, Tuskegee displayed balance, shooting 50 percent from the field and scoring 28 points in the paint. The team also capitalized on fast-break opportunities, adding nine points in transition.

Following Bolin's 20 points, Jasmine Manuel contributed 11 points with six rebounds, while SyAnn Holmes added eight points and four rebounds. The team's defensive effort forced 16 turnovers, leading to 14 points off those mistakes.

Spring Hill's effort was led by Hunter, who tallied 17 points, and Smith, who added eight points and three steals. Despite shooting 52.4 percent from the field, including 70 percent from the free-throw line, Spring Hill fell short in the face of Tuskegee's steady composure and timely scoring.

Tuskegee's ability to withstand Spring Hill's late-game surge and their balanced contributions on both ends of the court underline the team's growing confidence and momentum as they push deeper into conference play.
