Tuskegee Pulls Away Late to Defeat Edward Waters 71–54 on the Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Tuskegee men's basketball turned in a strong all-around performance on the road, pulling away in the second half to earn a 71–54 victory over Edward Waters on Saturday night.

The Golden Tigers set the tone early with disciplined defense and efficient scoring, building momentum throughout the first half. After a competitive opening stretch, Tuskegee used a late first-half run to take control, forcing turnovers and converting in transition to carry a lead into the break.

Edward Waters made several pushes in the second half, cutting into the margin with perimeter shooting, but Tuskegee responded each time. The Golden Tigers leaned on their depth and defensive pressure, limiting clean looks while continuing to attack the paint and draw fouls. A decisive run midway through the second half extended the lead to double digits and put the game firmly out of reach.

Tuskegee finished the night shooting efficiently from the floor while capitalizing at the free-throw line, a key factor in maintaining separation late. Defensively, the Golden Tigers held Edward Waters to just 54 points and forced difficult possessions down the stretch.

Individually, Tuskegee was led by a balanced scoring effort, with multiple players reaching double figures. Kusamae Draper added another double-double to his career totals, finishing with 23 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Anthony Wright with 16 points and six rebounds. Meanwhile, guards Khalil Genwright and RJ Walker both added 11 points in the win.

The Golden Tigers also controlled the glass and shared the ball effectively, generating quality looks throughout the night. Strong defensive contributions, including forcing 12 turnovers and 43 total rebounds, helped fuel Tuskegee's transition offense.

The win marks another solid road performance for the Golden Tigers as they continue to build momentum early in the season.
