FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Tuskegee University men's basketball team earned a thrilling road victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Kentucky State 70–69 at the William Exum HPER Center.
After a tightly contested opening half, Tuskegee trailed 32-26 at the end of the first period but rallied behind balanced scoring and defensive intensity in the second half. The Golden Tigers outscored Kentucky State 44-37 in the final 20 minutes, with key baskets down the stretch helping Tuskegee secure the one-point win.
Tuskegee was led by Khalil Genwright, who finished with a game-high 19 points, hitting three three-pointers and going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line while adding seven rebounds. RJ Walker provided a strong offensive lift with 14 points, connecting on four triples and playing 35 minutes of crucial action.
Kusamae Draper contributed 14 points and paced the team with eight rebounds while knocking down eight free throws, and Derrek Bolton III scored 12 points, including multiple shots to keep the Golden Tigers in front.
Noah Goines added four points and six rebounds, and Anthony Wright chipped in four points with seven boards as Tuskegee battled in the paint throughout the contest. Several role players provided energy and defensive effort in key moments as well.
The Golden Tigers' resilience was evident late, as Tuskegee executed with poise on both ends of the floor in the final minutes. The team hit timely free throws and made defensive stops down the stretch to preserve the narrow lead and clinch the road victory.
With the win, Tuskegee improves its Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record and continues momentum early in the season.
