Defensive Battle Slips Away Late as Tuskegee Falls at Edward Waters, 52-44

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Tuskegee Women's Basketball went toe-to-toe in a physical SIAC defensive battle Friday night but came up short on the road, falling 52-44 to Edward Waters at the Adams-Jenkins Complex.

Both teams set a defensive tone early, forcing contested shots and limiting transition opportunities through the opening quarter. Tuskegee generated several quality looks offensively and stayed within reach throughout the first half, as both teams struggled to create separation in a tightly played, half-court battle.

Tuskegee continued to compete after halftime, using defensive pressure and rebounding to stay within striking distance. The Golden Tigers pieced together multiple stops in the third quarter and briefly cut into the deficit with patient offensive possessions. Edward Waters, however, capitalized on timely baskets and trips to the free-throw line late in the third and early in the fourth quarter to create just enough separation to hold off the rally.

Despite continued defensive stops down the stretch, Tuskegee was unable to close the gap in the final minutes as Edward Waters executed efficiently to seal the result.

Individually, Erin Perry delivered a milestone performance, recording the first double-double of her career with 10 points and 10 rebounds while logging a career-high 37 minutes. Arianna Durrell led the Golden Tigers offensively with 12 points, adding six rebounds and two assists while continuing to provide steady perimeter production.

Aaliyah Duranham also reached double figures, finishing with 10 points and three rebounds, attacking the basket and supplying timely scoring. Meanwhile, Tenea Robinson contributed eight points and provided a spark off the bench in her Tuskegee debut.

Tuskegee's effort reflected continued growth in defensive execution and lineup development as the Golden Tigers navigate the heart of conference play.

Despite the loss, Tuskegee's defensive effort held Edward Waters below its season scoring average and showcased the team's improvement in half-court execution and physical play.
