FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Tuskegee University women's basketball team earned a strong road victory Saturday afternoon, defeating Kentucky State 60–51 inside the William Exum HPER Center.
The Golden Tigers faced an early test in the opening quarter but settled in quickly and took control in the second period. After trailing 13-10 at the end of the first quarter, Tuskegee responded with its best stretch of the game, outscoring Kentucky State 22-7 in the second quarter to take a 32-20 lead into halftime.
Tuskegee maintained its composure in the third quarter, holding off a Kentucky State push, before closing the game with an 18-point fourth quarter to secure the nine-point victory.
Tuskegee was led by Kae'la Mitchell, who finished with a team-high 12 points while converting eight free throws, adding seven rebounds and two assists. Arianna Durrell followed with 11 points and directed the offense with six assists to go along with three rebounds.
Brooklyn McKinley contributed eight points, six rebounds and four assists, while Shemaiah Mackin delivered a dominant effort on the glass with 16 rebounds while scoring eight points.
