Preview: Baseball vs. Clark Atlanta

TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ During the first weekend of March, rain forced a shortened opening series for the three-game series between Tuskegee and Clark Atlanta. The two programs will play the in finale of that weekend series when the Panthers return to Washington Field on Wednesday.

The Golden Tigers (9-25, 7-15 SIAC) will look to rebound after splitting a three-game series with Savannah State over the weekend, winning the first game 6-2, before falling 14-4 and 6-1 in a Sunday doubleheader.

When the teams last met, Tuskegee took the second of two games in dramatic fashion, taking a 9-8 walk-off victory over the Panthers in ten innings. The game was tied at 8-8 in the bottom of the tenth when freshman Elgin Neal II drove home Eli Speights with a single to win the game. The Golden Tigers collected 11 hits, tied with the Panthers in hit totals.

Devon Lee earned the win for Tuskegee, surrendering six hits and six runs over five and one-third innings and striking out five. Jacori McGee pitched for 2.0 innings, allowing four hits and one run, while Rodney Mudd II and Mikelle Mason combined for 2.2 innings of work, allowing just one hit and one run between them. Willis led the Golden Tigers at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two runs batted in on the day, followed by Nicholas Pratt and Neal who both earned two hits in the win. Neal also drove home two RBIs along with scoring twice.
 
Alex Glass, Pratt, and Scott Williams have all played pivotal roles for Tuskegee so far this season, all starting at least 27 games on the year. Williams holds a .272 batting average, and has earned a team-high 25 hits, including seven doubles and two home runs, along with driving in 17 runs, 16 runs scored, and 13 walks.
 
Meanwhile, Pratt hits at .256 in 82 at-bats on the year and has 21 hits and two doubles. The infielder also scored 12 runs and nine RBI. Glass has a .232 batting average with 19 hits, while also scoring 16 runs, driving in 12, and drawing 14 walks.
 
On the mound, Lee and Mason have both earned a pair of wins on the year, leading a unit with a 7.81 ERA this season. Lee has accounted for 25 strikeouts in 46.0 innings pitched, while Mason has struck out 22 batters in 38.0 innings. As a team, Tuskegee has 139 strikeouts in 250 innings of play.

Clark Atlanta is looking to start a new winning streak after picking up a loss on the road to Benedict in the final of a three-game conference series on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers 8-6 to the Tigers in Columbia. On the season, Clark Atlanta sits at 8-28 overall and 4-19 in SIAC play. The Panthers currently have a team batting average of .261 and a .357 slugging percentage while also having a .384 on-base percentage.
