TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Tuskegee softball topped Kentucky State 4-2 on Sunday to finish the weekend sweep. The win gives the Golden Tigers their ninth straight win and 17th of their last 20 to close the regular season.
A double by
Alexis Thompson put Tuskegee on the board first in the bottom of the first, scoring
Jessica Morales and
Kaeley Roldan. TU later scored two more runs in the bottom of the second on a home run to left field from
Victoria Harrison, putting the home team up 3-0.
Kentucky State started to battle back in the fifth, scoring on an RBI triple to right field after a base runner got on off an error. The Thorobreds then added another run on two hits to start the seventh yet could not rally as they left one on to close the game.
Kamaya Hampton (19-8) earned her second win and complete game of the weekend, allowing just five hits and two runs, with one earned, striking out five and walking one.
Roldan led Tuskegee at the leadoff spot with two hits in four at bats. Meanwhile, Harrison and Thompson each drove in two runs in the win, while
Carole Ross drew three of the four team walks in the contest.

Tuskegee will return to the field in postseason play as the SIAC Softball Championship, presented by Cricket is set for Monday, April 29 to Wednesday, May 1. All games will be played at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, Ga.
