TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Tuskegee's effort to come back from down five runs in the seventh inning came up just short on Saturday, as the team fell 9-8 to Spring Hill on Senior Day.
The Golden Tigers got within just one score with a grand slam from
Evan Jones in the bottom of the eighth. Jones drove in four runs in the loss, going 1-for-4 on the day. Meanwhile, the team totaled nine hits on the day with two each from
Julian Grier and
Nicholas Pratt.
Tuskegee got on the board in the bottom of the first after an RBI double to center field from
Scott Williams, scoring both Grier and Pratt to take a 2-0 lead. Later in the frame,
Stephon Wright grounded out to short stop, driving in Williams for the 3-0 advantage.
Spring Hill got on the board with an RBI single to right field in the second, however Tuskegee added to its lead with another RBI double, this time from Pratt to go up 4-1.
The Badgers tied the game in the third thanks to a bases loaded hit by pitch, sacrifice fly to right field, and an RBI double, each scoring runs, putting the game at 4-4. They later took the lead in the fourth, with a triple to go up one score, along with another score before the close of the frame. A bases-clearing single and single to left to score two gave Spring Hill a 9-4 edge going into the bottom of seventh.
Jones hit his bases loaded grand slam in the eighth, however Tuskegee did not earn another hit, falling short 9-8 to close the series due to a rain out ending the third game of the series.

Tyee Turner pitched five innings in relief, allowing five hits and three runs, striking out two and walking three.
