TUSKEGEE __ Tuskegee softball (8-16, 0-3 SIAC) had trouble keeping up with Spring Hill in a 9-3 loss on Sunday at the TU Softball Field, completing a sweep for the Badgers to start conference play.
Spring Hill scored first for the third straight game on the weekend, getting on the board in the top of the second inning after a single and a fielder's choice play that each scored a run to gain a 2-0 lead. The Badgers added another three runs in the fourth on two hits and two Golden Tiger errors, while leaving one on-base.
Tuskegee got on the board in the bottom of the fifth, as pinch hitter
Aaliyah Byrd doubled to center field, scoring
Payton Dunham. Later,
Katie Harris homered to left field, scoring two in the bottom of the sixth for the final two runs for the home team, making the score 5-3, before Spring Hill added four runs in the top of the seventh in the 9-3 final.
Byrd, Harris, and
Victoria Harrison combined for the three hits for Tuskegee, while Harris drove in two runs and Byrd drove in one. Meanwhile,
Kamya Hampton took the loss, pitching a complete game, allowing ten hits and nine runs (two unearned), while striking out two and walking five.

Tuskegee will return to the diamond this week in the SIAC Crossover at the Hoover, Alabama. The Golden Tigers are scheduled to play seven games over three days, starting on Tuesday, March 12 to Thursday, March 14 at the Hoover Met Complex.
