TUSKEGEE – Sumaiyah Abdur-Rahim scored a game-high 18 points to lead four double figure scorers for Tuskegee in a 69-62 overtime win over Lane inside of the Daniel "Chappie" James Center on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 53-39 heading into the final quarter of regulation, the Golden Tigers displayed stifling defense, holding the opposition to just 25 percent shooting from the field in the fourth, outscoring Lane 22-8 to force overtime on a late second three from Abdur-Rahim, before taking the game in OT after ending the game on an 8-1 run.
Tuskegee (13-6, 10-5 SIAC) opened the scoring nearly a minute into the contest when Jasmine Manuel made a pair of free throws after getting fouled on a shot attempt. The Dragons (11-12, 9-7 SIAC) would later gain control of the early momentum, going up 9-2 before the Golden Tigers battled back, going on a 14-4 run to end the frame and trail just 16-13 heading into the second.
Lane jumped out front again in the second, scoring the first five points of the quarter, going up 21-15 at the 8:44 mark. The Dragons went up double figures later in the period, going up as many as 14 with two minutes to go at 33-19. The score didn't change much before the break, as TU scored just two more points, on free throws from Cynaye Bobbitt prior to halftime.
The third quarter was a battle, seeing both teams go on runs, however Lane continued to control the score. The Dragons pushed their lead to a game-high 16 points at the 8:54 mark and led for the entirety of the period.
Tuskegee would close the overtime outscoring Lane 8-1, holding the Dragons to an 0-for-13 mark from the field in the extra period.
Abdur-Rahim led all scorers with 18 points on 8-for-12 shooting to go along with three assists and three rebounds, followed by Bobbitt who recorded her first double-double with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Meanwhile, Manuel added a double-double of her won, finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Brittney Bolin with 11 points, five assists, and four rebounds in the win.
Breonna Carey led Lane with 15 points, followed by 12 from Brailyn Tate. Chantoryia Rivers finished with nine points and grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds on the day.

Tuskegee will remain at home next week to host LeMoyne-Owen on Monday evening inside the Daniel "Chappie" James Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
