TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ In the latest rivalry meeting, Tuskegee fell to Miles with a final score of 37-7, in front of over 47,000 fans during their centennial homecoming game.
The loss snapped Tuskegee's momentum, dropping the Golden Tigers to a 5-5 overall record and 5-3 in the SIAC.
Miles improved to 8-2 overall and 8-0 in the conference, showcasing a strong performance on both offense and defense that kept Tuskegee at bay throughout the game.
The first quarter saw Miles take an early lead with a 15-yard rushing touchdown by Jonero Scott, putting the Golden Bears up 7-0. Tuskegee struggled to find rhythm on offense, failing to score and facing a resilient Miles defense that limited their yardage.
The second quarter was equally challenging for the Golden Tigers. Miles added a 31-yard field goal by Roderick Smith and a short touchdown pass from Kamren Ivory to Keidarris Griffin, pushing their lead to 17-0 by halftime.
Tuskegee's offensive efforts were hindered by penalties and a Miles interception, leaving them scoreless at the break.
In the third quarter, Miles continued their dominance. They capitalized on field position and extended their lead to 24-0 with a goal line touchdown run by Javonta Leatherwood.
Tuskegee's defense, despite strong efforts from players like
Malik Moore and
Charles Davis Jr., was unable to contain Miles' offensive drives.
In the fourth quarter, Miles sealed their win with two additional scores—a 41-yard touchdown pass from Ivory to Griffin and a 38-yard touchdown run by Edward Osley.
Tuskegee managed to avoid a shutout with a late 22-yard touchdown pass from
Raequan Beal to
Reggie Brigman, making the final score 37-7.
Statistically, Tuskegee faced significant challenges on both sides of the ball. Miles amassed 392 total yards, with 245 yards on the ground, compared to Tuskegee's 134 total yards.
Beal led the Golden Tigers' passing efforts, completing 14-for-22 passes for 117 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Brigman was the top receiver with five catches for 41 yards and the lone touchdown.
Tuskegee's rushing attack was limited to just 17 yards, while their defense, led by Moore and Davis with nine tackles each, struggled to stop Miles' balanced offensive approach.
