Golden Tigers Pick up Pair of Wins on Saturday to Finish Weekend 3-1 at West Cluster

MOBILE, Ala. __ The Golden Tiger volleyball team had a successful outing on Saturday at the SIAC West Cluster, securing two crucial league wins. Tuskegee swept LeMoyne-Owen 3-0 in their first match before taking down Lane 3-1 to close out the day.

In the match against LeMoyne-Owen, Tuskegee came out strong and controlled the pace of the game.
 
The Golden Tigers were led offensively by standout performances from Moriah Seay, who recorded 10 kills with an impressive hitting percentage of .526 and 10 digs, along with Lauren Canady, who contributed eight kills with a .500 hitting percentage.
 
Mikea Allen played a pivotal role in setting up the offense, tallying 23 assists, while Amara Dotson had eight and six service aces. Kayla Coleman also chipped in with solid all-around play, recording five kills, two blocks and two digs.
 
The Golden Tigers' defense was equally effective, with Sian Sprinkle adding to the team's defensive presence with four blocks.
 
Tuskegee's dominance was evident from the start as they won the first set 25-10, showcasing a well-rounded effort in both their attack and defense.
 
The second set followed a similar trend, with Tuskegee controlling the tempo and winning 25-20. They closed out the match with a 25-14 victory in the third set, maintaining consistent pressure on the Magicians throughout.

In their second match of the day against Lane, Tuskegee faced more resistance but ultimately emerged victorious with a 3-1 win.
 
Canady and Seay led the team again with nine kills each, with Canady adding eight blocks, an ace, and a block, while Seay added five digs, three aces, and two blocks. Coleman added seven kills, while Dotson dished out 21 of the 34 team assists, with 12 coming from Allen.
 
The Golden Tigers dropped the first set 24-26, before rebounding in the second set with a 25-16 win, before taking the third and fourth sets 25-15 and 25-19, respectively.
 
The wins improve Tuskegee's record to 7-6 overall and 4-4 in SIAC play, marking a strong showing for the Golden Tigers in the SIAC West Cluster. The team will look to build on this momentum as they continue their conference schedule.
 
Up Next
The Golden Tigers will return to the court next weekend in another SIAC Crossover on Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12, in Memphis, Tennessee. Tuskegee will take on Allen, Albany State, and Fort Valley State over the two day span.
