ATLANTA, Ga. __ For the third time this season and second time in as many weeks, junior Anaya Martin has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Martin's standout performance at the Florida State XC Invitational over the weekend, earned her this prestigious honor once again.
Competing at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida, Martin finished the 5k race with a time of 19:59.2, a new personal best, in a highly competitive field of collegiate runners from across the Southeast. Her strong showing led the Tuskegee women's team to an 11th place team finish with an average time of 21:25.34.
Martin has been a consistent leader for the Golden Tigers this season, continuing to improve her times and showing resilience against top-tier competition. Her ability to compete at a high level in back-to-back weeks demonstrates her exceptional conditioning and commitment to her sport.
Martin and the Golden Tigers will now set their sights on the postseason, as they are just over a week away from the SIAC Cross Country Championships, held in Macon, Georgia. The meet will be held on Wednesday, October 23, at the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course.
