FAIRFIELD, Ala. __ The Tuskegee women's basketball team battled the rival Miles Golden Bears on the road on Saturday afternoon, dropping the contest by a 68-47 score in in conference action inside of Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
Senior guard
Sumaiyah Abdur-Rahim had a season-high 20 points for the Golden Tigers (10-6, 7-5 SIAC) in 36 minutes of play on 6-of-12 shooting and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line to go along with four rebounds and three steals. Junior
Jasmine Manuel was right behind with 15 points, a team-high five rebounds and two steals on 7-of-10 shooting from the charity stripe, a career-high.
Tuskegee's struggles started early, as Miles scored the first four points of the game, before a free throw from Manuel put TU on the board. Miles went up six on a three pointer at the 2:27 mark, and allowed just two field goals in the frame, as Manuel scored all five points in the first.

Miles extended its lead to eight at 13-5 three minutes into the second quarter, however led by just three after a score plus the foul shot from Abdur-Rahim to close the gap to 13-8 at the first media timeout of the period. From there, the Golden Bears controlled the remainder of the half, fighting off a TU run to lead 19-16 at the half.
The Golden Bears kept things going in the second half, pushing their lead to eight points with a 29-21 lead at the first media break, before going up double digits for the first time of the day after a pair of free throws put Miles up 33-23 with 4:44 to go in the third.

Later in the frame, leading 35-25, Miles outscored Tuskegee 11-4 over the remaining four minutes of the period to lead by 17 points heading into the final quarter. The fourth was not much different, as Miles continued to control the pace, leading by 19 at the halfway mark of the quarter, before taking the home conference win.

The Golden tigers shot just 31.4 percent (16-for-51) from the field, 14.3 percent (1-for-7) from long range, and 82.4 percent (14-for-17) from the free throw line in the contest, while Miles finished with shooting splits of 45.2 percent from the floor, 37.5 percent from deep and 75 percent from the free throw line.
