Volleyball Opens 2023 Campaign on Wednesday with Road Battle against Lee

TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ The offseason is over for Tuskegee Volleyball and head coach Pamela Perkins, as the 2023 team will open their season this evening as they travel to take on Lee University on Wednesday at 5 p.m. EST inside of Paul Dana Walker Arena.

The Golden Tigers return seven players from last year's roster, including the 2022 leader in points and kills in junior middle blocker Chase Holloway, who brings back team-highs of 128 kills, 1.94 kills per set, and 147.5 total points from 2022.

Joining Holloway as key returners is senior outside hitter Keniah McRuffin and sophomore setter Mikea Allen. McRuffin finished second on the team last season in kills (119), kills per set (1.70), and total points (129.5), while Allen has proven to be a valuable setter, closing 2022 out with a team leading 289 assists, good for 4.01 assists per set, along with 13 service aces.

Meanwhile, Lee is coming into the matchup with a 2-1 record following a weekend of play in the Erskine Invitational after defeating Tusculum 3-1 and sweeping Erskine 3-0 before falling to Lincoln Memorial over a three-game stretch. After hosting their home opener on Wednesday, the Lady Flames will next head to Franklin Springs, Ga. to play four games in the Emmanuel College invitational.
