TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ The Tuskegee volleyball team heads to the first SIAC Crossover of the year in Albany, Georgia, on Friday, Sept. 22 through Saturday, Sept. 23. All matches will be played in the HPER Complex on the campus of Albany State.
The Golden Tigers start off the weekend against Albany State on Friday, with first serve slated for noon ET. Tuskegee will then square off against Allen at 4 p.m. and Benedict at 8 p.m. to round out day one.
On Saturday, the team begins the day with a matchup against Fort Valley State at 10 a.m. ET, before wrapping up the weekend on against Clark Atlanta at 2 p.m.
The crossover marks the first weekend of conference play for Tuskegee, as it enters with just one SIAC match on the year in a road loss to Miles on Sept. 13. TU fell on the road to Claflin to finish a home-and-home series on the year when last seen on Monday, Sept. 18 inside of Tullis Arena in Orangeburg.
Junior outside hitter
Moriah Seay has performed well so far on the year for the Golden Tigers, leading the team with 41 kills (2.93 k/set), 48.5 points, 62 digs (4.43 d/set), and six service aces.
Other players to watch include sophomore setter
Mikea Allen who leads the team with 55 assists (3.93 a/set) and second in service aces with three, and freshman
Rita Nua, who has 31 assists (2.21 a/set), 19 kills (1.61 k/set), and 21 digs (1.5 d/set) on the year. Meanwhile, three other Golden Tigers have recorded double figure kills on the year, in
Sian Sprinkle with 17, followed by Trinity Willingham and
Kayla Coleman with 16 and 11 respectively.
