TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Tuskegee volleyball will return to conference play this weekend, as they travel to Wilberforce, Ohio, from Friday, Oct. 7 through Saturday, Oct. 8. All matches will be played inside of Beacom-Lewis Gymnasium.
Tuskegee starts off the weekend on Friday with a match against Lane, with first serve slated for 9 a.m. The Golden Tigers will then square off against LeMoyne-Owen at 1 p.m. to wrap up day one. They open with Kentucky State on Saturday, with an 11 a.m. start, followed by the final match of the weekend against host Central State at 1 p.m.
The Golden Tigers are coming off their third win of the season with a 3-1 road non-conference win against Oakwood and looking for their first SIAC win since defeating Allen, 3-1, in the first SIAC Crossover of the year.
Junior outside hitter Moriah Seay has continued to be a force in her first year with the program, leading the team with 137 kills (2.80 k/set), 169.0 points, 165 digs (3.37 d/set), and 22 service aces. Other players to watch include sophomore setter Mikea Allen who leads the team with 222 assists (4.53 a/set) and third in service aces with 13, and freshman Sian Sprinkle who has 80 kills (1.63 k/set), a team-high 41 total blocks (0.84 b/set), and 108.5 points.
Meanwhile, Rita Nua has 118 assists (2.68 a/set), 48 kills (1.61 k/set), and 14 aces, along with 61 digs (1.39 d/set) and eight blocks defensively. Four other Golden Tigers have recorded at least 30 kills on the year, in freshmen Kayla Coleman and Trinity Williams both with 63, senior Keniah McRuffin (35), and junior Alexandria Ellis (32).
