Golden Tigers drop a pair of games in home opening tri-match, play two at Huntingdon today

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Golden Tigers women's volleyball team played host in a tri-match to Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) opponents Miles and Spring Hill on Tuesday.
 
In the first game of the day, Tuskegee fell to Spring Hill in three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-9, 25-10. Keniah McRuffin (Red Oak, Texas) led offensively with seven kills and seven digs, followed by Chase Holloway (Madison, Ala.) who finished with five kills and five digs. Meanwhile, setters Mikea Allen Montgomery, Ala.) and Azariah Crosby (Merrillville, Ind.) combined for 15 assists and six digs in the match.
 
In their second game, the Golden Tigers dropped a hard-fought match to Miles by scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-23. Holloway led offensive in the match with 11 kills along with four digs, followed by McRuffin, who finished with nine kills and six digs. Meanwhile, Jackson had a a team-high 18 digs, and freshmen Keniya Cleveland (Moreno Valley, Calif.) and Asha Greenidge (Moreno Valley, Calif.) combined for 11 kills in the match, with Cleveland also recording three blocks.
 
Allen, who was named SIAC Newcomer of the Week prior to the tri-match, had a great weekend in the SIAC West Cluster, helping the Golden Tigers earn their first two wins of the season. The freshman finished the cluster with 90 total assists and 35 digs, including a career-high 47 assist, 18 dig double-double against LeMoyne-Owen. Allen also recorded a double-double against Kentucky State with a 21 assist, 11 dig performance.

The Golden Tigers will travel to Montgomery today for a tri-match at Huntingdon, where they will play the Hawks at 3:30 p.m., followed by Faulkner at 5:30 p.m.
