Baseball suffers a pair of losses at home to Bluefield State College

The Tuskegee University baseball team dropped a pair of games Wednesday afternoon in Montgomery, Ala. at Paterson Field to Bluefield State College. The non-conference tilt featured a 10-6 loss in game one followed with a 13-5 defeat in game number two. 

Despite out-hitting the Big Blues nine to eight, the Golden Tigers fell behind early and would not recover in a 10-6 loss. BSU scored on a sacrifice fly by Peyton Durham and a walk by Jasiah Hatch in the first inning.
 
TU ended up notcing four runs in the seventh inning with big batsfrom Cameron Hollins, Tayari Albright, and Emory Willis, who each had RBIs in the inning.
 
BSC scored four runs in the fourth inning when Tanner Brandon and Durham, all drove in runs. Addison Meeks led things off on the pitcher's mound for the visiting team out of West Virginia. He went five and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out five and walking one.
 
Russell Coleman toed the rubber for TU . He surrendered seven runs on four hits over four innings, striking out two.  Tyler Baker threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
 
In the sixth inning, Albright hit the team's only homerun of the day. He finished 2-for-3 at the plate to lead TU in hits.  One of the positives on the day was the fact that the Golden Tigers did not commit a single error in the field.

in game game two, the Golden Tigers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing BSC, giving up 13 runs. Skegee poured in three runs in the fifth inning, a rally that was led by a single by Albright and a groundout by Keldric Burton. In the bottom of the fifth inning, TU tied things up at 5-5 scoring two runs on a stolen base.

Emperor Williams got the starting nod in game two. He surrendered nine runs on nine hits over five innings, striking out four. Nytorious Cooler threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Brandon Wortkoetter picked up the Bluefield State. He went four innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out three.

TU tallied ten hits in the second contest. Emory Willis, Corey Stallings, and Ryan Green each collected multiple hits. .

The Golden Tigers will open a three-game series this weekend with Claflin. TU is set to host the former SIAC member institution with a single game Saturday at 3 p.m. and a double-header on Sunday that gets underway at 12:00 p.m.
