Softball splits double-header with Robert Morris

The Tuskegee University softball team split its double-header with Robert Morris Sunday afternoon at the TU Softball Field on the campus of Tuskegee University. It would mark the season opener for the visiting team out of Illinois and games sixteen and seventeen for the Golden Tigers.

GAME ONE

NOTES
• The win/loss makes Tuskegee's record 2-16 overall
• Robert Morris is now 1-1
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Chelsea Mowery drove in four RBI in game one and two hits and drove in two runs
• Jasmyne Lawrence and Sierra Smith each earned two hits each in game one
• Mowery picked up the win in game one. She pitched 4.1 innings and allowed four runs on three hits

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the bottom of the sixth in game one, Mowery homered to center field, 2 RBI; Jordan scored. 
• The Golden Tigers broke things open in that same inning when Dumas reached on a fielding error by ss; Smith advanced to second; Mason scored, unearned; Adams scored, unearned.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE 
• TU scored 11 runs on 12 hits and committed two errors
• RM scored five runs on 11 hits and committed four errors
• TU forced RM to leave six runners on base
 
GAME TWO
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Chelsea Mowery pitched 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on nine hits.
• Jasmyne Lawrence and Cecelia Tennessee each notched two hits


HOW IT HAPPENED
• RM scored five runs in the second inning and three more in third to hold a 9-2 lead
• Roneisha Rudolph led the team with two RBI in game two
