ALBANY, Ga. | After picking up a pair of key wins on the first day of the SIAC Crossover on Thursday, the Lady Golden Tigers of Tuskegee dropped two of three matches on the second day.
Tuskegee (5-10, 5-4 SIAC) dropped the first match of the day to Paine 3-1 (25-15,22-25,11-25,23-25) before falling to Clark Atlanta 3-1 (19-25,25-23,21-25,21-25) in the second match of the day.
In the loss to Clark Atlanta,
Jessica Johnson led the way for Tuskegee with 13 kills on 31 attempts. She finished the morning hitting .258 with a pair of digs in the loss. Although Johnson was the lone player in double figures in kills,
Donovan Wingfield added seven kills and
Shakayia Wilson six in the loss.
Zahria Radford led the Lady Golden Tigers with 11 digs, while
Avery Brown chipped in with five.
Janae Graham finished the match with 40 assists on 40 kills by the team.
In their final match of the second day, the Lady Golden Tigers defeated Fort Valley State 3-0 (25-15,25-16,25-18) to end their modest two-game losing streak.
In the win over Fort Valley State,
Taliyana Bryant led a pair of Lady Golden Tigers in double digit kills, finished with 14 on 24 total attempts. She finished the day hitting .542; while
Shakayia Wilson added 11 kills and hit .529 in the victory. Johnson narrowly finished outside double digit kills, finished with nine.
Radford led Tuskegee with 15 digs, while
Brianna Fisher finished with 10. Graham led Tuskegee with 38 assists.
Tuskegee finishes the Crossover with a match against Albany State Saturday morning.
