JACKSON, Tenn. | The Tuskegee University softball team completed the sweep of Lane College 6-2 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play Sunday afternoon.
 
Tuskegee (13-27, 11-4 SIAC) used a pair of three-run innings to keep pace with the leaders in the conference. The Lady Golden Tigers scored three in the second and three more in the seventh after Lane closed the gap to a single run in the top of the sixth.
 
Kaylin Finch (6-9) picked up her second win of the series, working a complete game and allowing just two runs – one earned – off of six hits, while striking out six. The freshman also led the Lady Golden Tigers at the plate, going 4-for-4 including her fifth homerun of the season.
 
She led an 11-hit attack with seven other players each picking up a hit in the win.
 
The Lady Golden Tigers got on the board first in the third inning when Lara Miller singled home Kenyah Smith, and extended the lead to 2-0 when Jasmine Howard reached on a error driving home Rudolph. The inning with a three-run lead when Haley Plato laid down a bunt to score Miller.
 
After Lane trimmed the lead to 3-2, Tuskegee answered in the seventh when Finch led off with a solo homerun to push the lead to 4-2. They extended the lead when Rudolph doubled down the left line, scoring Kenyah Smith and pushed the final run across on an error by Lane.
 
Tuskegee hosts sixth-ranked North Alabama at home on Thursday beginning at 1 pm in a doubleheader. The Lady Golden Tigers will play eight of their final 11 games at home beginning this week.
