Tuskegee falls to Young Harris

Tuskegee held to just two hits in second loss at D2 Gulf Coast Invitational

GULF SHORES, Ala. | The Tuskegee University softball team dropped their second consecutive game at the D2 Gulf Coast Invitational, falling to Young Harris College 11-0 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

Tuskegee (0-2) was held to just two hits in the contest, with Jamaica Williams and Adrienne Eaddy picking up the hits. Eaddy also reached base on a walk, while Kenyah Smith was the only other player to reach base - drawing a walk.

Young Harris jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first, before a six-run second inning put the game out of reach. The Mountain Lions added two more in the third to round out the scoring.

Morgan Burrell (0-1) suffered the loss for Tuskegee, giving up nine runs (five earned) on eight hits with a pair of walks. Acey Spence came out of the bullpen for Tuskegee, giving up two runs on three hits.

Grace Botti led Young Harris, going 1-for-2 with a pair of runs batted in off of her second homerun of the season. Sarah Magill finishe 3-for-3 with three runs, scored and two runs batted in. Mary Catherine Smith (2-0) picked up the win, going four innings and giving up just two hits and one walk.

Tuskegee returns to action later in the day on Saturday, facing the University of North Alabama at 4:45 pm.
