GULF SHORES, Ala. | The Tuskegee University softball dropped their third game at the D2 Gulf Coast Invitational hosted by Spring Hill College, falling to the University of North Alabama 8-0 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
North Alabama (8-0) was able to hold Tuskegee (0-3) without a hit in six innings of play. Starting pitcher
Tori Beth Garner was the lone player to reach base for Tuskegee, drawing a walk.
Garner (0-1) went the distance for Tuskegee, going 5.2 innings and allowed eight runs – all earned – off of 10 hits. She also allowed one walk and struck out three.
North Alabama was able to put a run on the board in each the first and second innings, but took control of the game in the third with a five-run inning. The Lions added their final run of the game with two outs in the sixth inning, bring the eight-run rule into affect.
Madeline Lee led North Alabama with a pair of hits, scoring two runs and recording an RBI double. Courtney Shields added a homerun for North Alabama.
Tuskegee returns to action with a pair of games to conclude the tournament on Sunday, facing Lee (Tenn.) University at 11:15 am and Flagler (Fla.) College at 1:30 pm.
