MONTEVALLO, Ala. | Zahria Radford led Tuskegee defensively with 10 digs in a 3-0 (7-25,11-25,18-25) non-conference loss to the University of Montevallo at Trustmark Arena Tuesday night.
Tuskegee (9-14, 9-6 SIAC) never got on track from the opening point of the match and struggled throughout, being held to a -.062 hitting percentage in the match. The best set hitting came in the second set when the Lady Golden Tigers hit -.038.
Shakayia Wilson,
Jessica Johnson and
Taliyana Bryant each recorded four kills, while
Donovan Wingfield added three for the Lady Golden Tigers.
Janae Graham led Tuskegee with 15 assists, recording one for every kill in the match.
Avery Brown added six digs and Johnson five in the loss.
Meanwhile, for Montevallo (10-10), Natalie Twyford led the way with eight kills, while Harley Masoner added 19 digs. Grace Harris led the way with a match-high 12 digs, while the team combined for 10 blocks.
Tuskegee returns to action Monday night at Chappie James Arena, facing Miles College in a key Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) match as part of homecoming week on the historic Tuskegee campus. The match starts at 6 pm Monday night, and will be "Black Out" Night at Chappie James.
The match can be seen and heard on the Tuskegee Digital Network, with a pre-match show beginning at 5:45 pm.
