TUSKEGEE, Ala. | Following a weekend of six conference matches in three days, the Tuskegee University volleyball team returns to conference action Tuesday night as they travel to Mobile to take on Spring Hill College.
Tuskegee (8-6, 6-4 SIAC) split their six matches at the SIAC Crossover, and will be facing an opponent from the West Division since the SIAC Cluster the second weekend in September – a division in which the Tigerettes are 3-1 so far this season.
"This past weekend gave us the opportunity to prepare for this week," head coach
Melissa Robinson said. "We got the opportunity to work on our strengths and weaknesses to be ready to play Spring Hill tomorrow."
The Tigerettes are led offensively by junior
Pamela Allen with 133 kills so far this season, and she is hitting .300 this season. Over the past weekend, Allen led the team with 71 kills in her six matches, while hitting .516 in those six matches. Meanwhile, freshman
Jamiah Breda-Nixon is among the leaders on the team with 77 kills – including recorded 39 kills, 11 digs and seven service aces at the SIAC Crossover.
Sophomore
Morgan Scrivens leads the Tigerettes with 333 assists this season, including 47 against Albany State on Saturday. The sophomore is also among the team leaders in digs with 70, trailing only freshman
Zahria Radford in that category.
Tuskegee is off to their best start since 1997, when the Tigerettes started out 12-5 (9-5 through their first 14 matches). The meeting with Spring Hill on Tuesday will be just the third meeting in school history between the two schools, with Spring Hill winning both matches last season.
