Win by Stillman Forces Repeat For Championship

OZARK, Ala. —Despite a bottom of the ninth rally by the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers baseball team, the Stillman Tigers forced a repeat contest for Sunday morning with a 8-7 decsion.

Tuskegee saw three pitchers take the mound, with starting pitcher,
Tevin Worthy receiving the loss. He faced 33 batters in 6.1 innings, giving up 10 hits, six runs, three walks and striking out eight.

Pacing the Golden TIgers' offensive unit were third baseman Cash Oliver and designated hitter William Buford, with each scoring two runs. Cameron Duncan led Tuskegee in RBIs with two runners batted in. Oliver's solo hit was a non-scoring triple, that placed him in scoring position.

Stillman pitcher Joseph Falletta, the two-time SIAC Starting Pitcher of the Year, pitched nine innings, recording 10 strikeouts and allowing four walks with seven runs forcing a decisive game on Sunday.

The Tigers were led by third baseman Anthony Delgado, who recorded two hits in three at bats, driving in two runs and scoring two additional for Stillman. Delgado's offensive production was aided by outfielder Paul Winterbottom and second baseman Dustin Dunn who each drove in two RBI's along with scoring one each.

The Golden Tigers entered the ninth inning down 8-2, before scoring five runs off two hits and two errors to rally back into the contest. Tuskegee's Cash Oliver was thrown out advancing to second base to end the game and Tuskegee's rally. The two teams will meet tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. (CT) to decide the 2014 SIAC Baseball Championship.
