TUSKEGEE - After a great season-opening victory against Alabama A&M University last Saturday, the Tuskegee Golden Tigers have significantly jumped in the rankings of every major HBCU football poll.  Just as significan is the achievement of being included in both major polls in the NCAA Division II Top 25.  The rankings mean that more attention will be paid to tomorrow's matchup in Albany, GA in what will be a non-conference matchup against Albany State University.

In the American Football Coaches Association poll, the Golden Tigers have leaped five spots from their previous ranking of #24 before the season began to a current ranking of #19 this week.  Additionally, Tuskegee has made their season debut in the D2Football.com Top 25 poll, entering this poll at #21 in their season debut.

Also of major importance is the fact that the Golden Tigers are highly ranked in every major HBCU poll of importance in the country, beginning with the most recent poll from the Sheridan Broadcasting Network.  In their weekly poll, Tuskegee is ranked #3 amongst all HBCUs as the highest team that has not yet received a #1 vote.  Tuskegee is also ranked third by Boxtorow.com's HBCU Top 10 poll, finishing behind Bethune-Cookman and Tennessee State.  Ranked ahead of TU at the moment is Bethune-Cookman and North Carolina A&T.  The Golden Tigers are currently ranked #2 in the Black College Sports Page Top 10, ahead of North Carolina A&T at the moment and behind Bethune-Cookman.

In the Division II HBCU Football Poll from the Heritage Sports Radio Network, Tuskegee is a near-unanimous #1, taking 17 out of 18 of the first-place votes.  The only other team to take a #1 vote in this poll is SIAC West Division rival Stillman College, who defeated Concordia-Selma 52-0 in their season opener in Tuscaloosa.  They were ranked #8 in this week's poll.  Tuskegee is also #1 in Dr. Cavil's Mid-Major HBCU Football Top 10, with six of 11 first place votes.  The other five votes went to Winston-Salem State University, in spite of their 25-21 loss to North Carolina-Pembroke on their opening weekend.
