Through five complete contests,
Dahman Zucchini has had three shots on goal for Tuskegee. He has found a way to make each of them count.Â
The sophomore midfielder goal in the 24th minute was the only tally for the Golden Tigers in a 1-1 tie Tuesday night at Cleve L. Abbott Memorial Alumni Stadium against the United State Sports University. It was the highlight in a night full of aggressive play for Tuskegee (3-1-1), which pushed the tempo but could not convert on multiple scoring opportunities.
Zucchini had four total shots and
Chikwere Ikpo had a team-high five. Two of those were on goal, including one in the 56th minute that was swallowed by USSU keeper Chris Ramirez, who had six saves. Unfortunately, that was the last shot on goal for Tuskegee, which took 20 total shots during the match. Golden Tigers keeper Samuel Galsgow was equally up to the task, stopping 4-of-5 shots on goal. The last came in the 86th minute when Demarcus Hawkins - who assisted on a goal by David Huguley in the 42nd minute - could not beat him on a shot top left. That closed out the final scoring opportunity for each side.
Tuskegee is back in action on Saturday, when it travels to face Montevallo beginning at 5 p.m.
