TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Tuskegee baseball team delivered a strong offensive performance on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Paine College 18-8 in a non-conference matchup at Washington Field.
The Golden Tigers (8-15) responded early after surrendering two runs in the top of the first, quickly flipping momentum with a six-run bottom half of the inning. Tuskegee capitalized on timely hitting and aggressive baserunning, highlighted by RBI singles from multiple hitters and key advancement on passed balls to take a 6-2 lead.
Paine answered with a five-run second inning to briefly reclaim a 7-6 advantage, but Tuskegee remained composed and continued to apply pressure at the plate. The Golden Tigers tied the game in the second inning before breaking it open in the middle frames. A steady offensive surge in the third, fifth, and sixth innings allowed Tuskegee to regain control, while the pitching staff settled in to limit further damage from the Lions.
Tuskegee's offense was led by a balanced effort throughout the lineup, finishing with 12 hits and taking advantage of Paine's defensive miscues. Key contributors included
Collin McLain, who went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs, and
Ryan Morrow, who added two hits, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Chris Smith also contributed with a multi-hit performance and an RBI, while
Jordan Spencer delivered a clutch two-RBI single in the seventh inning to cap the scoring.
On the mound,
Jared Harmon got the start for Tuskegee, working through the early innings before giving way to the bullpen.
R.C. Smith earned the win in relief, providing stability over the final innings and helping secure the victory.
Paine was led offensively by Jaden Knight, who recorded two hits including a home run and drove in multiple runs. Raphael Hodge added a pair of RBIs, while Wagner Montero and Mason Roundtree each contributed to the Lions' seven-hit effort.
Tuskegee took full advantage of opportunities, drawing walks and capitalizing on errors to extend innings, while also showcasing depth with production throughout the order. Defensively, the Golden Tigers played clean baseball, committing no errors in the contest.
