TUSKEGEE, Ala. ___ Tuskegee women's basketball delivered a dominant performance at home Thursday evening, rolling past Savannah State 81-46 inside the James Center Arena.

The Golden Tigers controlled the game from the opening tip, jumping out to a 17-13 lead after the first quarter before breaking things open in the second.

Tuskegee used defensive pressure and efficient shooting to outscore the Lady Tigers 18-8 in the second frame, taking a 35-21 advantage into halftime.
Â
The momentum continued after the break as Tuskegee poured in 28 third-quarter points, stretching the lead beyond 20 and putting the game firmly out of reach heading into the final period.

Tuskegee shot 40 percent from the field (32-for-78) and knocked down five three-pointers, while dominating the glass with a 60-33 rebounding advantage.

The Golden Tigers also capitalized on turnovers, scoring 26 points off Savannah State miscues and adding 27 bench points in a balanced offensive effort.

Arianna Durrell led the way with 17 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc and finishing 4-for-4 at the free throw line.
Aaliyah Duranham added 16 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, while
Tenea Robinson contributed 13 points.

Shemaiah Mackin controlled the paint with 12 rebounds to go along with six points, helping Tuskegee record 26 second-chance points on the night.

Savannah State was led by Jazmin Thornton with 11 points, while Jayla Harper added 10. The Lady Tigers shot 26.7 percent from the floor (16-for-60) and 23.1 percent from three-point range.

Savannah State kept things competitive early but struggled offensively in the second and third quarters as Tuskegee's defensive pressure limited clean looks and forced 17 turnovers.

Tuskegee's defense also held Savannah State to just eight points in the second quarter and 17 in the fourth, closing out the contest with sustained intensity on both ends of the floor.

With the victory, the Golden Tigers continue their strong push late in the regular season and will look to build on the momentum in their upcoming matchup.
