Genwright Earns Second SIAC Player of the Week Honor After Strong Week

ATLANTA, Ga. — Tuskegee University men's basketball standout Khalil Genwright has been named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week following another impactful week for the Golden Tigers, marking the second time this season he has earned the honor.

Genwright turned in a dominant performance to lead Tuskegee to a key SIAC road victory over rival Miles, scoring a game-high 21 points in the Golden Tigers' 76-65 win at Knox-Windham Gymnasium on January 17. He was highly efficient on the offensive end, shooting 7-for-12 from the field, knocking down 3-for-4 attempts from beyond the arc, and converting all four of his free-throw opportunities.

In addition to his scoring output, Genwright contributed across the stat sheet with three rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, while helping anchor a defensive effort that limited Miles to 65 points. His perimeter shooting and timely scoring helped Tuskegee maintain control throughout the second half, as the Golden Tigers shot 44.3 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from three-point range in the rivalry matchup.

Genwright followed that performance with another strong all-around showing in Tuskegee's home victory over Spring Hill later in the week, helping the Golden Tigers extend their winning streak and continue their momentum in conference play. His ability to score at all three levels, defend multiple positions, and make winning plays on both ends of the floor was instrumental in a 2-0 week for Tuskegee.

With the pair of wins, Tuskegee improved its overall record and continued its climb in the SIAC standings, while Genwright's consistent production and leadership remained a driving force behind the Golden Tigers' success.

Genwright now becomes a two-time SIAC Player of the Week selection this season, further cementing his role as one of the conference's premier guards and a key contributor to Tuskegee's pursuit of postseason success.
