TUSKEGEE, Ala. ^__ The Tuskegee Golden Tigers closed out their home schedule in dominant fashion, securing a hard-fought 49-38 victory over Spring Hill in SIAC conference play at the Daniel "Chappie" James Center.
 
With the win, Tuskegee improved to 16-9 overall and 12-5 in SIAC play, maintaining their momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
 
The Golden Tigers set the tone early with a strong first quarter, edging out Spring Hill 12-11 in a tightly contested start.
 
Guard Alexandria Johnson opened the scoring with a mid-range jumper, while Brittney Bolin provided key defensive stops and timely buckets.
 
The Badgers responded with a three-pointer from Marta Duda, but Tuskegee controlled the pace, capitalizing on second-chance opportunities.
 
The second quarter saw both teams struggle offensively, but the Golden Tigers' defensive pressure forced Spring Hill into 1-for-10 shooting from the field.
 
Tuskegee built a 21-15 halftime lead, fueled by Hilani Cantone's active presence in the paint and Shemaiah Mackin's transition baskets.
 
Coming out of halftime, Tuskegee went on a 6-0 run to extend their lead to double digits.
 
Jasmine Manuel dominated the boards, finishing with 10 rebounds and 12 points, including multiple second-chance baskets.
 
SyAnn Holmes and Cynaye Bobbitt also contributed key defensive stops, limiting Spring Hill to just six points in the third quarter. The Golden Tigers entered the final period with a 35-21 advantage.
 
Spring Hill attempted to rally in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to 10 points behind a flurry of baskets from Kellyn Hunter and Jalisha Mann, but Tuskegee's composure at the free-throw line and clutch three-point shooting from Bobbitt sealed the victory.
 
With this victory, the Golden Tigers will now turn their focus to the final few conference games, aiming to strengthen their position in the SIAC standings before postseason play begins.
 
Up Next
Tuskegee will return to the court on Monday, February 24 for another conference contest and their final regular season game of the season, facing LeMoyne-Owen. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. inside of Bruce-Johnson Hall.
