Men’s Basketball Defeats Morehouse 67-55 In Home Matchup

TUSKEGEE, Ala. — Tuskegee men's basketball earned a strong home victory on Sunday afternoon, defeating rival Morehouse 67-55 inside the Daniel "Chappie" James Center.

The Golden Tigers put together one of their most complete defensive efforts of the early season, holding the Maroon Tigers under 35 percent shooting while producing key scoring runs in both halves to secure the win.

Tuskegee established its defensive identity early, contesting shots on the perimeter and limiting Morehouse to just two made field goals in the opening eight minutes. Offensively, the Golden Tigers leaned on their guards to create tempo, with multiple players touching the paint to generate high-percentage looks.

A mid-half scoring burst allowed Tuskegee to take control, capped by strong finishes at the rim and timely perimeter shooting. By halftime, TU carried a 34-26 advantage and had successfully dictated the pace on both ends of the floor.

After the break, the Golden Tigers continued to build momentum. Tuskegee opened the second half with a renewed defensive push, forcing several early Morehouse turnovers that turned into scoring opportunities on the other end.

The lead grew to double digits as the Golden Tigers' ball movement and attacking style continued to create efficient offense. Morehouse attempted to rally late with a brief run, but Tuskegee responded with composed half-court execution, including pivotal stops and clean trips to the free-throw line that kept the margin secure.

Tuskegee's balanced scoring proved decisive, with multiple players contributing timely baskets and maintaining composure throughout the contest.

Defensively, the Golden Tigers limited Morehouse's interior production and held the visitors to just 29 second-half points. Tuskegee also controlled the glass down the stretch and protected possessions late, allowing them to close out the rivalry matchup with authority.

Khalil Genwright and Kusamae Draper led Tuskegee with 16 points each, while Draper added 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the year. RJ Walker followed with 13 points, six assists, and four rebounds in the contest.

The 67-55 victory marks an important early-season result for Tuskegee, showcasing the team's progress on both ends of the floor and reinforcing its defensive identity inside the Chappie James Center.

Tuskegee returns to action later this week as the Golden Tigers travel to Orlando, Florida for a pair of weekend games as part of the HBCU Hoops Invitational, held at Disney's Wide World of Sports. Tuskegee will open the weekend against Florida Memorial on Friday, December 5, at 12 p.m. ET.
