JACKSON, Miss. – The Tuskegee volleyball team delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday night, earning a straight-set victory (25–16, 25–23, 25–23) over non-conference opponent Tougaloo College inside the George A. & Ruth B. Owen Health & Wellness Center.
The win lifts the Golden Tigers to 9-6 overall, while Tougaloo drops to 1–15 on the season.
Tuskegee controlled the match from start to finish behind an efficient offensive effort and timely serving runs. Sophomore outside hitter
Zariah Messick led the way with 18 kills on .500 hitting, while also adding eight digs and a block.
Sahnee Dillahunt-Nedd guided the attack with 17 assists and 12 digs, earning her third double-double of the season, while freshman
Kyndal Seals delivered her best game of her young career with seven assists, eight digs, and six service aces.
The Golden Tigers came out fast in the opening frame, using a 9-2 mid-set run fueled by Seals' serving and back-to-back kills from Messick to take control before sealing the set 25-16.
The second set proved much tighter as Tougaloo rallied to within two points late at 22-20, but several Bulldog errors followed by Messick connecting for a kill clinched the 25-23 win.
The third set saw both teams trade points early before Tuskegee pulled ahead behind key defensive stops from Dillahunt-Nedd and libero
Jasmine Brantley, with an attack error putting down the final point to complete the sweep.
Tuskegee finished with 33 kills, while holding Tougaloo to 27 kills and just a .067 hitting percentage. The Golden Tigers also dominated from the service line with eight aces and won the digging battle, 48-47.
Tougaloo was led by Zoie Chambers with 11 kills and Kamyah Love with seven, while Taylor Cousar recorded 14 assists and eight digs.
