Men's Basketball Welcomes Jamir Cheek as Assistant Coach

Tuskegee, Ala. __ Tuskegee University and men's basketball head coach Benjy Taylor are thrilled to announce the appointment of Jamir Cheek as the new Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Cheek brings a wealth of experience and expertise that promises to elevate the team's performance for the upcoming season.
 
Coach Cheek joins the Tuskegee staff following a distinguished tenure at Clinton College. Last season with the Golden Bears, Cheeks helped the program to an 18-11 overall record and perfect 8-0 mark in Region X conference play. He previously demonstrated his coaching prowess at Wiley College, where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration.
 
"I'm thrilled to join this program and aid in adding to its success going forward. With fresh energy and relentless drive, my purpose is to help this program rise to new heights," Cheek stated. "My goal is to bring new perspectives and unwavering support to Coach Taylor and our players, helping them reach their full potential both on and off the court. Together, we hope to continue to build a winning culture and achieve great things.

As a standout player, Cheek concluded his college career ranked fourth all-time in assists at Wiley. His collegiate career began at Genesee Community College, where he averaged 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, earning First Team All-Region honors and multiple NJCAA Player of the Week awards.
 
Known for his exceptional player development skills, Coach Cheek has a remarkable ability to drive athletes to their highest potential, both mentally and physically. His keen ability to read the game and make strategic adjustments on the fly makes him an invaluable asset to the coaching staff.
 
"This was a crucial hire for Tuskegee Men's Basketball at this point in time," Taylor explained. "Coach Cheek has a bright future in this game and I believe his skill sets will bode well moving forward. He is a selfless and tireless worker with a love for the game. We are fortunate to have him on board and we look forward to continued success. He believes in the team concept and the guys are responding well to his tutelage due to his maturity and knowledge of the game."
