SAVANNAH, Ga. __ The Tuskegee women's basketball team begins the 2024 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship, presented by Cricket tomorrow, Tuesday, Mar. 5, at 12:00 p.m. in Savannah, Georgia, inside of Tiger Arena for opening round action.

Tuskegee finished the regular season losing three of its last five contests to finish in fourth in the SIAC West standings, despite a 14-9 regular season mark in the first year under head coach
Chiante Wester after losing a number of players from last year's SIAC Championship team.

Guard
Brittney Bolin was named to the 2023-24 All-SIAC Second Team last week after leading the team in scoring. She picked up her first postseason honor after a year where she posted numbers of 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game this season. Backcourt mate
Sumaiyah Abdur-Rahim is second on the team at 11.7 points per contest, along with 3.6 rebounds, a team-high 3.0 assists, and 1.6 steals on the year.

TU finished the regular season near the top in several SIAC statistical categories including second in opponent three-point percentage (.234). In addition, it ranked third in field goal (.393) and three-point percentage (.302). Tuskegee is also top-five in assists per game (12.04) and assist-to-turnover ratio (0.69).
Allen enters the opening round of the SIAC Basketball Championship at 12-14 overall and 7-12 in league play, finishing the year winning six of its last seven games on the season.

The Yellow Jacket offense features a balanced attack with two players in double figures led by Kash Hankerson who scores 11.8 points, followed by Taliah Wesley at 10.5 points per game. Mya Johnson comes in just under double figures at 8.5 points, while JuJu Harrington leads the team in rebounding at 6.1 rebounds per contest.
Allen enters Tuesday with a top-five scoring defense at 60.8 points per game and third in the league in opponent field goal percentage (.355).

Saturday's game will mark the fifth meeting between Tuskegee and Allen, but the first in a neutral setting, as Tuskegee currently holds a 5-0 lead, including four wins being on the road in Columbia. Tuskegee also won the only meeting between teams this season, a 63-56 win over the Yellow Jackets on January 4, inside of the Daniel "Chappie" James Center.
