Golden Tigers Fall at Kentucky State in Regular Season Finale

FRANKFORT, Ky. __ Tuskegee fell to a hot shooting Kentucky State, 96-69 on Monday evening inside the William Exum Center in the 2023-24 regular season finale.
  
In the first, Tuskegee (14-8, 11-8 SIAC) got off to a slow start, finding themselves down 7-2 nearly three minutes into the game. After TU cut the led to 12-9 a few possessions later, Kentucky State finished the quarter strong, up double figures at 25-11.

Kentucky State (18-6, 14-4 SIAC) started the game by knocking down five of their first seven shots en route to 11-for-21 from the field for 52.4 percent in the first quarter.
 
The Thorobreds extended their lead to 21 halfway through the second before the Golden Tigers put together a seven-point run at 43-29 with 2:06 to go in the half. Both teams traded scores over the final two minutes, as KSU led at the break 47-32.
 
Tuskegee knocked down seven of twelve total shots, including three of their four three-pointers in the third quarter in their highest-scoring quarter of the day at 22 points. Brittany Bolin and Mikayla Malik both scored five points in the period, accounting for two of those while adding five points each in the quarter.

Kentucky State closed the second half outscoring the Golden Tigers 31-22 in the third and 18-15 in the final quarter.
 
Arielle McElroy led Tuskegee on the day with 15 points to go along with four rebounds and two steals, followed by Malik with 11 points and two assists and Bolin with nine points, two rebounds, and two assists in the loss.
 
Five Thorobreds finished in double figures, led by Taleah Dilworth and Sydney Thomas with 14 points, while Hilani Cantone, Gracen Kerr, and Mondrea Williams all added 12.
