The Golden Tigers (1-4) are coming off their first win of the season in the home opener with a 7-6 win over Tougaloo on Saturday. Â Freshman
Devon Lee led the Golden Tigers with two hits in three at-bats, including a crucial double in the ninth to put himself in scoring position. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks in the contest, led by two from Barnes.

Four different base runners stole multiple bases in the game, as TU accumulated 11 stolen bases, while six batters earned a hit.

Jaylen Hill got the start for Tuskegee, working five and two-thirds innings, and allowing nine hits and four runs, while earning four strikeouts. Meanwhile, Daniel Williams also appeared in relief.

Mikelle Mason picked up his first win on the mound, allowing no hits and no runs in three innings of work out of the bullpen, striking out two. Caleb Carter took the loss for the Bulldogs, starting the game and going seven innings, surrendering three runs on three hits, striking out three and walking five.

Lee leads the team with a .400 batting average on the year so far, accounting for four hits, including two doubles, three runs scored, and two runs batted in. Meanwhile,
Jabari Johnson is next at .333, earning a team-high five hits, also with a pair of doubles and four RBIs.
Rust (0-7) enters the midweek game having the first seven games of the season, including getting swept in its only series last weekend against Jarvis Christian.

The Warhawks are led offensively by Malik Berrien who is batting .250 with team-highs of three hits and three runs. He is one of four players who has multiple hits along with Christian Hill, Shemaar Stapleton, and Calel Stephens.
Defensively, Rust has a nearly 90 percent fielding percentage this season, with 90 put outs on 127 chances.
