ABOUT TUSKEGEE (3-2)
The Golden Tigers enter the game with a 3-2 overall record, fresh off a pair of impressive victories over No. 23 Columbus State and West Alabama last week.
Guard
Brittney Bolin has been the standout player for Tuskegee, with team-highs so far of 14.8 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.6 steals per game along with contributing on the boards with 4.2 rebounds per contest. She was also named the SIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday for her play over the last two games.
Along with Bolin,
Hilani Cantone (11.0 ppg) and
Jasmine Manuel (8.8 ppg) have also stepped up in recent games, providing crucial support on offense and defense.
Defensively, Tuskegee has been solid, limiting opponents to just 63.2 points per game.
The Golden Tigers' defense is anchored by a team effort, with strong perimeter defense and the ability to force turnovers. They have averaged 7.4 steals per game, with Bolin,
La'Dajah Huguley (1.2 steals per game), and
Hilani Cantone (1.0 steals per game) leading the way.
Tuskegee has also held strong on the boards, with the team averaging 41.6 rebounds per game, slightly better than their opponents' 41.2 rebounds per game. This has been a critical aspect of their success, especially in close games.
ABOUT CLARK ATLANTA (3-2)
Clark Atlanta, on the other hand, comes into the matchup with a 3-2 record, with a win over LeMoyne-Owen most recently.
They have displayed an impressive offensive output, averaging 70.8 points per game, led by Corriana Evans, who is averaging 15.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
Trinity Jones (13.6 ppg) and Atreonia Garner (13.4 ppg) have been other notable contributors, helping Clark Atlanta to maintain a strong scoring presence.
Defensively, the Panthers have shown resilience, with a solid rebounding margin and aggressive defense, though they will face their toughest test yet in this SIAC opener.
Tuskegee will rely on its balanced attack to lead the way offensively, while relying on its defense to limit Clark Atlanta's scoring threats.
A key matchup will be the battle on the boards, as both teams are closely matched in rebounding.
The Golden Tigers have a slight advantage in overall team defense, and they will need to execute defensively to contain Clark Atlanta's high-scoring trio.
For Tuskegee, this game presents an important opportunity to start conference play on the right foot and continue their momentum from their recent victories. A win would push their record to 4-2 and set the tone for the rest of the SIAC schedule.
