TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ Tuskegee University's women's basketball team is gearing up for a highly anticipated 2024-25 season with a blend of experience and new talent, setting high expectations for what promises to be an electrifying campaign.
Â
After finishing last season with a strong 15-10 overall record and 11-8 in SIAC play, the Golden Tigers are determined to make an even bigger impact in the conference and return to their dominant ways.
Â
The Golden Tigers return six pivotal players who were instrumental to last year's success.
Brittney Bolin leads this core group, having been the team's top scorer with an average of 12.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game while shooting an efficient 36.6 percent from the field.
Â
Bolin's ability to score in clutch moments and her versatility on offense will continue to be a cornerstone for Tuskegee's attack and earned her recognition of the Preseason All-SIAC First Team.
Â
Jasmine Manuel returns as the leading rebounder, pulling down 6.6 rebounds and contributing 8.4 points per game last season. Her presence on the boards and defensive prowess makes her a vital part of the team's interior game.
Â
Cynaye Bobbitt also makes a significant return, averaging 7.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, adding strength and agility in the paint along with perimeter shooting.
Malaysia Williams,
Trinity Layton, and

Â
SyAnn Holmes, from Mississippi Valley State, adds a strong perimeter presence and defensive toughness, while
Hilani Cantone, transferring from Kentucky State, brings consistency and basketball IQ to the guard position.
Â
Â
Alexandria Johnson (Queens) and
Imani Johnson (UC Merced) add further depth, with
Imani Johnson expected to be a key contributor in the back court with her playmaking abilities.
Breanna Glaze (Bishop State) and Shemiah Mackin (Southern Union) complete the group of new additions, both adding athleticism and versatility to an already dynamic roster.
Â
The Golden Tigers kick off their season on Tuesday, November 12, at 5:30 p.m. in a road game against West Alabama at Pruitt Hall in Livingston, Alabama. This opening matchup will be an early test for Tuskegee, as they look to establish chemistry among their returning players and new transfers.
Â
Tuskegee took the last meeting between programs last season, taking a 59-55 win in Pruitt Hall, on November 11, 2023. TU has also won two straight in the series, with a 68-47 win in Tuskegee in 2013.
Â
The non-conference schedule will provide opportunities for the team to grow and gel before diving into the competitive SIAC slate, where each game holds significant weight in the push for a top seed.
Â
With a deep and talented roster, Tuskegee is aiming to be a formidable contender in the SIAC. The combination of returning experience and new energy from the transfers gives head coach
Chiante Wester multiple options in terms of rotations and strategies.
Â
The focus will be on maintaining a high level of defensive intensity, pushing the tempo in transition, and executing efficiently on offense. Team chemistry and the ability to adapt to different game situations will be key as the Golden Tigers strive for a championship run.
Â
Overall, the 2024-25 season holds great promise for Tuskegee women's basketball, with fans eagerly anticipating the team's growth and potential to achieve new heights. The blend of experienced leaders and impactful newcomers positions the Golden Tigers for an exciting and competitive season ahead.
