TUSKEGEE, Ala.  __ The Tuskegee women's basketball team saw its three-game win streak snapped on Saturday afternoon as they dropped a home contest to Kentucky State, 77-59, inside of the Daniel "Chappie" James Center.
The game got off to a fast start early, with three ties in the first three minutes of play, before a 6-0 burst from Kentucky State to go up 12-6 at the 5:35 mark. Tuskegee cut the lead to 14-10 shortly after the first media timeout and later trailed by just three after a free throw from 
Trinity Layton, however found themselves down 19-11 at the end of the quarter.
Kentucky State broke the game open in the second quarter, as Tuskegee shot just 21 percent (4-for-19) from the field in the period. The Golden Tigers got on the board with 9:33 remaining in the frame and did not score again until a three-pointer from 
Brittney Bolin at the 6:36 mark.
 
During the same span, Kentucky State went on a 6-0 run and later extended the lead to as many as 22 points at 38-16 with just over two minutes before halftime. Tuskegee cut into the lead by closing the quarter on a 7-1 run to close the gap to 39-23 at the break.
The Golden Tigers continued to claw back into the game in the third, opening the half with a 10-2 run to get within single digits at 41-33. KSU went up 11 minutes later, at 46-35 with 4:19 to go, sparking a 14-5 run to end the quarter leading the home team 60-40.
 
The Thorobreds carried the momentum into the fourth, going up as many as 24 points in the quarter. Tuskegee cut into the lead on multiple occasions, but could not make an impactful push, falling 77-59.
Bolin led the way for Tuskegee again in the contest, scoring a team-high 17 points along with three rebounds and a pair of assists in the loss, followed by fellow guard 
Sumaiyah Abdur-Rahim who finished with 11 points and six rebounds in the loss.
 
Gracen Kerr led the Thorobreds on the day with a game-high 23 points in the game, followed by Sydney Thomas, the other double figure scorer with ten points along with four rebounds.
As a team, the Golden Tigers finished the day shooting 35.5 percent (22-for-62) from the floor, 29.4 percent from long range (5-for-17), and just 45.5 percent from the free throw line (10-for-22). Meanwhile, Kentucky State shot 40 percent from the field (26-for-65), 20 percent from three (4-for-20), and 63.6 percent from the charity stripe in the win.
 
The Thorobreds forced Tuskegee into 20 turnovers, scoring 18 fast break points off the miscues, along with outscoring the TU bench 32-21.
