TUSKEGEE, Ala. __ The Tuskegee women's basketball team will look to keep its current three-game win streak going when the Golden Tigers remain home to play host to a pair of conference opponents, starting with Kentucky State on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Daniel "Chappie" James Center.
The game between the Golden Tigers and Thorobreds will be broadcast on HBCUGo, with live stats and audio coverage via GoldenTigerSports.com. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
Tuskegee and Kentucky State are currently tow of the top four teams in the conference overall, along with two of the top three teams in the West Division. KSU is 7-0 in league play so far, while TU comes in at 5-2. Last season, the Tuskegee swept both regular-season meetings. The program has won five straight in the series, with the last lost being on February 8, 2020.
The Golden Tigers come into this game with a record of 8-3. The team has picked up three straight wins, with the last against Benedict at home on Jan. 6, earning a 73-52 win.
So far this season, junior Brittney Bolin leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.1 points, along with 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Senior Arielle McElroy averages 11.5 points, and team-highs of 5.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, while fellow senior Sumaiyah Abdur-Rahim averages 11.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per contest.
Entering this game, Tuskegee ranks second in the SIAC in three-point field goal percentage at 33.5 percent, and third in field goal percentage at 40.3 percent. Individually, McElroy and Abdur-Rahim both rank in the top ten in assists per game, while all three guards mentioned are in the top 15 minutes in the conference in minutes per game.
Kentucky State comes into Saturday afternoon's game with a mark of 11-2 and ranked sixth in the Division II Collegiate Sports Communicators (D2CSC) South Regional Poll. The Thorobreds most recently took on Clark Atlanta, earning an 80-78 win at home on Jan. 6.
Gracen Kerr leads KSU offensively, averaging a league-high 17.7 points and 5.5 assists per game. Taleah Dilworth is next, scoring 15.0 points per game for the Thorobreds, while Hilani Cantone is averaging 9.9 points so far this season.
Central State comes into Monday's matchup with a 6-8 overall record and 3-4 mark in league play entering the weekend. The Bucs most recently took on Coker, earning a 65-53 win at home on Dec. 30.
 
Abbigail Peterson is the lone double figure scorer for the Marauders at 12.3 points per contest, while Naomi Shorts and Jacquell Bronaugh come in at 9.9 and 9.0 points per game respectively.
