SIAC announce conference awards, Jackson and Willis earn individual honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. | The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its annual women's basketball awards presented by TIAA to conclude the 2021-2022 regular season. This year's all-conference teams, which feature ten student-athletes, were voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
 
Tuskegee's forward, Ashiala Jackson (Merrillville, Ind.) leads the 2022 SIAC Women's Basketball All-Conference team as the 2022 SIAC Player of the Year, while JuToreyia Willis (Chattanooga, Tenn.) was named SIAC Defensive Player of the Year.
 
Jackson led the conference and the Golden Tigers in scoring averaging 19.9 points per game shooting 50.3 percent from the field during the regular season to clinch the SIAC Western Division title with 15-3 mark. The Merrillville, Indiana native also averaged 10.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.
 
Willis, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., earned Defensive Player of the Year honors after she blocked 23 shots this season and averaged 6.5 rebounds on the season. The 5'11 guard also averaged 14.9 points for the Golden Tigers.
 
The pair of All-SIAC performers for Tuskegee was second-most among schools, behind only Benedict (3) and tied with Clark Atlanta and Savannah State (2), followed by one from Lane to round out the selections.
