TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Tuskegee men's basketball prepare for their first two regular season games starting Friday, as they host the South Region Crossover Classic, held inside Daniel "Chappie" James Center over the weekend.
The Golden Tigers will host two non-conference opponents in Union, tipping off at 7 p.m. on Friday, followed by a battle with Shorter Saturday afternoon, starting at 3 p.m.
Union went 24-9 last season and competed in the NCAA DII South Regional Tournament, eventually falling to top seed Nova Southeastern in the semifinal round. Meanwhile, Shorter is coming off a 5-20 record in 2021-22.

GAME NOTES
- Tuskegee was picked to finish second in the SIAC West, behind Miles and ahead of LeMoyne-Owen in the SIAC Preseason polls, voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
- Fifth year senior Gregg Boyd (Seat Pleasant, Md.) was named Preseason Second Team after missing all last year due to injury. When last season, the guard ranked third in the SIAC and led the Golden Tigers with 16.7 points per game, while shooting 42.5% from the field and 39.3% from behind the arc. He also scored in double figures in all but three games, including a 30-point game against Spring Hill and four games over 20 points two seasons ago.
- Tuskegee returns nine players from the 2021-22 roster, including five players who averaged 15 or more minutes per game.
- The program has also welcomed three newcomers for this season, in transfer D'Anthony Pennington (Kansas City, Mo.) along with a pair of freshmen in Dylan Cambridge (Marietta, Ga.) and Kusamae Draper (Conyers, Ga.).
