Jackson, Browne’s Double-Doubles Guide Volleyball To Season Sweep Of LeMoyne-Owen


MOBILE, Ala. – The Tuskegee University volleyball program dropped the front half of its doubleheader opposite Lane but bounced back to defeat LeMoyne-Owen in four during the nightcap Friday evening.
 
Tuskegee was constantly putting the Magicians on the defensive, doubling up LOC in kills (48-24) and holding sizable advantages in both assists (43-23) plus digs (71-51).

Tuskegee Top Performers
 
  • Taliyah Browne became the third different Tigerette to produce a double-double this season, posting season-highs in both kills (10) and digs (10) along with new bests regarding points (12) and service aces (2) versus the Magicians.
 
  • Erin Jackson racked up her third double-double of the campaign and second in the past three matches with a 20-kill, 15-dig showing, both career-bests, against LOC. 
 
  • Jazmine Green led the squad in digs during both matches, averaging 6.86 per set including a personal-high of 28 in the victory over LeMoyne-Owen. Her 28 digs fell two shy of becoming the first Tigerette in six years to surpass 30 in a match.
 
  • Crystal Hall topped the team in kills versus Lane, clubbing nine with just two errors on 22 attacks for a hitting percentage of 0.318.
 
  • Kiana Wilcher averaged over ten assists per set (10.75) against LeMoyne-Owen with 43 total.
 
  • Against the Magicians, Amari Colvin doubled her previous season-best mark by spiking four kills.

Coach Perkins' club will go to war with two of the better teams in the SIAC Western Division Saturday as it will tussle with Central State at 9 a.m. followed by Kentucky State at 1 p.m.
